Night in Vegas (Lucky Vega), the class act in this £200,000 Tattersalls Somerville Auction Stakes having been fifth in the Coventry and third in the Richmond, tracked the pace stands’ side throughout the early stages. Powering by the Weatherbys Super Sprint winner Zigazig Ah (Rajasinghe) inside the final furlong, the 6-5 favourite asserted to score by 1 1/2 lengths.
Kennet Valley Syndicates’ racing manager Sam Hoskins said, “There is a lot of history with sales races for us because our founder, Nick Robinson, founded Kennet Valley to win the inaugural Cartier Million in the late 1980s. We’ve had a bit of luck in recent years and Eve has done a wonderful job.”
“We could have run in the Gimcrack this week, but realistically we were running for third or fourth,” he added. “He is known as Elvis, as he is such a dude. There is a race at Doncaster on September 10th [the Weatherbys £300,000 2-Y-O Stakes], which would be quite interesting but we will let the dust settle. There is also a race on Champions Day.”
The unraced dam, who has produced the Listed-placed Shepherds Way (Dark Angel) and whose yearling filly by Minzaal is catalogued in the upcoming Tattersalls October Book 3, is a half to the Diamond Jubilee Stakes, July Cup and British Champions Sprint Stakes hero Slade Power (Dutch Art) from the family of the Phoenix Stakes hero Ebro River (Galileo Gold). She also has a colt foal by Starman.
