Dual Gr.1 winner and European Champion Sprinter
Incredibly talented and outstanding looking sprinter, Shaquille, is the latest progressive young sire to join Yulong’s new European roster. Twice a winner at the highest level, Shaquille offers breeders an exciting opportunity to utilise a high-class quality sprinter at an exceptional value.
Shaquille hails from the famed Green Desert sire line that has produced no end of extraordinary stallions, including Kingman, Oasis Dream and Shaquille’s own grand-sire Invincible Spirit. His dam Magic is by the legendary Galileo, out of the Champion mare Danehurst, a daughter of breed-shaper Danehill.
Trained by Julie Camacho, Shaquille was a three-time winner at two, breaking his maiden on debut at York in July. His 2 ¾ length victory on his first start at three on 2000 Guineas Day at Newmarket propelled him to new heights, with Shaquille competing solely in Stakes company from there on out. His breakthrough Stakes win came in the Listed Carnarvon Stakes at Newbury, ahead of Gr.2 Futurity Stakes victor Aesop’s Fable and Gr.2 Gimcrack winner Noble Style, before a phenomenal first Gr.1 win in the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot, beating Gr.1 Phoenix Stakes winner Little Big Bear.
Taking on his elders for the first time, Shaquille defeated a field of proven Gr.1 sprinters, including Kinross, Art Power and Khadeem, in the Gr.1 July Cup. This second top-level win cemented Shaquille’s status as Europe’s Champion 3YO Sprinter and he retired later that season with earnings of over £782,000.
“Shaquille was a gentleman at home and came alive on the racecourse. He gave us the best days of our racing lives managing to both outsprint his rivals to win two Group Ones” said trainer Julie Camacho.
“His outstanding looks and ability have been there for all to see and in our 50 years in the industry we have not seen a horse like him.”
Following a successful initial season under the Dullingham Park banner, Shaquille welcomed his first foals in 2025, stamping them with his own great quality, bone and remarkable presence. He has continued to be well supported by top breeders and covered more than 275 mares in his first two seasons, including Ace Stud’s own powerful broodmare band. His quality first two books of mares include the dams of Without A Fight (dual Gr.1 winner), Simmering (Gr.2 winner & dual Gr.1 placed), Dramatised (Gr.2 winner & Gr.1 placed), Persica (dual Gr.3 winner), etc.
