Carl Spackler & Raging Torrent to stand at Lane’s End

After racing in the Yulong silks, multiple Gr.1 winners Carl Spackler (Lope De Vega) and Raging Torrent (Maximus Mischief) have both been retired to stand at Lane’s End Farm in Kentucky for the 2026 breeding season.

Raging Torrent came third in the Gr.3 Best Pal Stakes at two and then proceeded to win the Gr.1 Malibu Stakes and Gr.2 Pat O’Brien Stakes as a three-year-old. He was victorious in the Gr.2 Godolphin Mile at Meydan in April 2025, before returning to the US to win the Gr.1 Metropolitan Handicap in June. He won seven of his 14 starts and earned a total of US$1,797,400.

Raging Torrent will be introduced at a fee of $15,000.

The next new stallion to join the Lane’s End roster is Carl Spackler, who won his first Stakes race in 2023 when he took home the Gr.2 National Museum of Racing Hall of Fame Stakes at Saratoga. This was followed by victories in the Gr.3 Saranac Stakes at Saratoga, as well as the Listed Opening Verse Stakes at Churchill Downs and the Gr.3 Kelso Stakes at Saratoga. The following month Carl Spackler stormed home in the Gr.1 Fourstardave Handicap at Saratoga, claiming his first win at the highest level. He continued to land another two Gr.1 wins, including the Gr.1 Coolmore Turf Mile Stakes and the Gr.1 Maker’s Mark Mile Stakes at Keeneland. He has earned nearly US$2 million during his racing career.

His trainer Chad Brown said: “Carl Spackler is unquestionably the best male turf miler I’ve ever trained. Not only is he fast, sound, and perfectly made, he also has an incredibly calm temperament that trainers dream of. I will definitely be in the marketplace buying his best-looking offspring.”

Carl Spackler‘s fee will be announced at a later date.
