Joint-Top Lot for Shaquille at Tattersalls on Day 1

A major vote of confidence came the way of Ace Stud’s first-crop sire Shaquille late in the day in the sale of a homebred filly from Petches Farm (Lot 372) for 75,000gns.

Luke Barry of Manister House Stud struck the winning bid for the filly with an eye on a return to next year’s yearling sales.

“She’s very dear but she’s very nice,” said Barry. “There’s some very nice fillies tomorrow, but she stands up very well against them. It’s all about the individual, but I also like the idea of the sire. I have a nice one by him at home, a colt. He’s stamping his stock and getting some very nice horses, but then he’s a very good-looking horse himself.”

The filly belongs to a family with its share of two-year-old talent as the second foal out of Baileys Accolade (Aclaim), a winning two-year-old herself, who is half-sister to the Gr.1 Cheveley Park Stakes third Baileys Jubilee (Bahamian Bounty).
